The British Culture Course

This course is for people new to the UK, or for longer-term residents who need further help integrating into British society. The course helps them understand and function within UK communities and workplaces, while maintaining personal cultural and religious identities.

Focussing on British work ethics; social integration; UK customs and behaviour and religions and festivals; the course enables new residents to build up interpersonal skills and use them every day in a variety of situations. It also teaches common English phrases that might otherwise cause confusion and misunderstanding.

Delegates find the course broadens their way of thinking, so they feel less intimidated or fearful of the British way of life and more able to combine British values with their own cultural or religious values.

Course Content
Life in Britain, Social & Work Integration, Customs & Behaviour, Religions & festivals, Everyday English Phrases, Integration Techniques.

Objectives
- Basic Integration skills
- Learn and apply interpersonal skills
- Fit confidently into the UK social scene
- Understand how to embrace British Values without compromising your own cultural identity
- Learn and practice British Manners and behaviours (including table manners)
- Understand British Festivals, Customs, celebration days and religious practice
- Develop useful skills to enhance relationships with customers and clients
- Learn common English phrases

Once completed
Delegates will have a wider knowledge and understanding of British Life and culture and be able to integrate more successfully.

Examination
Short exam papers start and finish of course

Feedback
Feedback is provided back to employees on all staff that attended.

Customer Service
Follow up calls will be made to check progress. Help with form filling, interview techniques or any other integration matter is available for 2 months after the course.
